Day out at Yorkshire wildlife park with Julie, Ian and aunt Margaret.




Most of country moved to cv level 2 but Glasgow and Moray stayed at level 3.

Home again.

India cv variant more transmittable than first thought. Huge spike in Bolton (highest rate in the UK) - believed, a couple of weeks ago, to be due to people returning from India but found to be down to the low take up for vaccinations. Cases more than doubled in a week 

Surge testing in 15 areas - Boris said it could delay final stage of full reopening in June.

Over 37m now vaccinated.

Covid restrictions eased but everyone urged to exercise caution.

Indian variant cv cases almost doubled in UK over a 4 day period. 2,323 cases with 483 of them in Bolton and Blackburn with Darwen areas.

2,412 new cv cases. 7 deaths. 127,691 total deaths. 20.5m people have had both vaccine doses.

Confusion over where people can go on holiday. Usual conflicting information 🙄 Many ignoring advice and jetting off to countries on the amber list.

38m have had first jab and nearly 23m have had both - 43% of adult population.

Bury numbers on the increase again. 


New guidance for areas with high covid rates - though it was put onto the internet rather than being announced 🙄 - told not to travel out of area etc. Seen as another virtual lockdown for those areas - people not happy.

Pick up car.


Cummings said covid situation was managed by 'lions led by donkeys'. His interview/grilling was likened to the political equivalent of a drive-by shooting for Boris and Hancock.

Scientists warned that a third wave of covid may have started in the UK.

Put the shade sail up no bother yesterday but took about 6 attempts today 🤣 Now marked for future attempts 🙄

Tuesday 1 June

First day since the start of the pandemic with NO DEATHS in the UK 👍🎉

Scaffolding put up for work on next door's roof.


3,165 new cases. Just under half the adult population has now had both jabs.

Covid cases rose by about 75% over the week up to 29 May. 

Finished improv quilt throw (for the second time!) 😁

Huge flight price increases as people tried to get back before the Tuesday deadline.

Over half of all adults have now had both jabs.


Carol's solar tree of life still working. 

Pfizer approved for use in children in UK between ages of 12 to 15.

Over 5,700 new cases - most for 2 months. 15 deaths.

Finished Lola's 'extra' bunting. 

Started elderflower cordial with the last of the frozen flowers from last year.

Family quiz. Lost. Again 🤣

Lovely afternoon meal at Ema's.

Elderflower cordial - bit darker than last lot as the flowers were discoloured when frozen.


Monday club lunch at Luisa's -  patatas a lo pobre, pisto, breaded chicken 😋 then afternoon at the Manchester Runway observation area with Luca. He loved it and didn't want to leave.




Tuesday 8 June

New guidance for Gtr Mcr in order to tackle increased covid cases in the area - doubled from about 20 to 40 over the weekend. Advice is to stay in area.. Again.. 😔 Government stressed that it was not a lockdown. 

Wednesday 9 June

About 80% of UK population now have antibodies against covid either through having had infection or through vaccination.

6 deaths. 7,540 new cases - going up again. 
Over 54% of UK adults now fully vaccinated.
Delta (Indian) variant thought to be between 40 and 80% more transmittable.

Covid rates soared in Cheshire.

7 deaths and over 7,000 new cases - mostly of the Delta variant.
