Cases rose again in italy. Shops etc closed again.  Bleak in other parts of Europe too.


Police accused of violence at the (unauthorised) vigil for Sarah Everard (murdered by a serving policeman) and the right for women to feel safe on the street. Ironic.

Hairdressers reopened in Wales. Have to wait until 16 April in England.

First cuddle with Nico for ages.



Luca made fruit cobbler.

Bassetlaw had the highest cv rates in Notts.

Nine EU countries have suspended use of the AZ vaccine, others not using current batch  because of fears over blood clots and side effects.


Third lockdown in Italy - who were the first to impose original lockdown exactly two weeks before the UK.

Ministers said second lockdown should have started earlier.  Lessons weren't learned after first wave.

5,089 new cases.  64 deaths. 125,580 total deaths. 24.5m vaccinated - 46% of adult population.

EU looking for better vaccine rollout, saying some countries (UK!) are receiving more than them. Plus they are wasting the AZ vaccine atm by not using it.

Carol home from the hospice. Pain controlled but lots of confusion and vivid dreams.

Supply issues from India will slow down supplies in April meaning 5m less vaccines done.. which coincides exactly with when UK lockdown is predicted to be eased.

Paris, parts of France and other countries back in lockdown and EU ministers said there was not enough vaccine to prevent another wave. 

4,802 new cases.  101deaths.  126,926 total deaths.  Nearly half the adult population now vaccinated.

Boris warned that the third wave will "wash up on our shores" as numbers in Europe increase again.

Finished second version of Luisa's quilt - replaced about 50 hexagons so no red or blue circles.

Round to Ema's for outside meet up. Very cold but nice to see everyone.  All smelt of woodsmoke when we got home.

Ema made a delicious lamb and apricot tagine for Monday club.

Thursday 8 April

Chile made to enforce strict lockdown again. With one third of the country innoculated the country was looked on as a good example but restrictions were relaxed too soon and covid cases soared once more.

Ema made another Monday club meal - spinach and mushroom lasagne. Delicious!

Unexpected snow which fell, thawed slightly then froze. Very pretty.
