Nov 13: INDIA Days 12 - 13 Nov: Agra - Fort and Taj Mahal...

Tuesday 12 November

We went out to visit Agra Fort.  Very beautiful.

We had planned to visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise but it was too misty.

The sun came out briefly in the afternoon so we had a quick lunch and went to the Taj.  BEAUTIFUL!

The pictures speak for themselves...

There were lots of 'professionals' taking pictures for the tourists so we decided to have some done.  We were wandering around with Debbie, Kirsty and Rupert so we had lots done separately and together.

These are our 'professional ' pictures - 100 rupees each!

I think the picture of Gr M and I is on the Princess Di seat!! (we had this one taken separately as Gr M had wandered off and we missed our turn on the other seat!)

It was quite funny as they rush madly to pose you, take the picture and get you moving as quickly as possible so that they can photograph more tourists.  And of course there are at least three or four 'photographers' all fighting to use the same stone seat for their photos so it's a constant jostle to try and get to the seat.

Any unsuspecting tourists who try to use their own camera to get a picture from the same angle have no chance!!

Once again we were all - and our blondies especially - the centre of attention!  Other tourists were either trying to jump into their photos or asking to have their photo taken with them and us all - in some cases the Taj seemed almost secondary to the opportunity to have a photo with anyone with a lighter skin tone!

Eventually Debs and Kirsty got fed up with all the attention (it's hard being famous!) and resorted to walking around under a bright red pashmina - a not so subtle attempt at incognito!!

The weather was slightly hazy and there was not a lot of blue sky but we all had a lovely time and a lot of fun at the Taj Mahal even though it was so busy.

So - one last wave and it was time to collect our 'professional' photos and go!...

Wednesday 13 November

We said goodbye to some of the group today - we'd had our last meal together the previous evening.  Very sad as we had all become good friends!

Noel, Lorraine and Robert were heading off on another Intrepid trip to Rajastan and to the camels and desert.  Kirsty and Rupert were heading off to do some volunteer work for a couple of weeks - and hopefully find some tigers on their days off!

Good luck guys - we will miss you all!

So for the rest of the now much smaller group - a trip to the station and another train - and another four hour ride...

Back to Delhi this time for our final destination.

Back to the same hotel where it all began actually...
